IFC CHRISTMAS CONCERT CONTINUES TRADITION OF CELEBRATING THE SEASON WITH MUSIC, WINTER TREATS AND DONATIONS TO RE-FORESTATION CHARITY

(Beijing, China) For the 14th year running, International Festival Chorus (IFC) and Peking Sinfonietta continue their annual tradition of performing the immensely popular Christmas classic, Handel’s Messiah, on Saturday 3 December 2016 at Harrow International School Beijing.

“Each year I look forward to bringing together diverse Beijing communities to celebrate the holidays with one of the world’s greatest choral masterpieces,” says Artistic Director Nicholas Smith, OBE.

Given the Christmas theme, this year’s concert will benefit the Chinese environment, with the chosen charity Future Forest tasked with planting trees in Inner Mongolia’s Kubuqi desert to stabilize the sands and improve the local ecosystem. With every two tickets sold, one tree will be planted during next year’s expeditions.

Nicholas Smith OBE will conduct musicians of the IFC and Peking Sinfonietta along with four distinguished soloists: Welsh baritone Jeremy Huw Williams, Swedish tenor Torbjörn Stålberg, Chinese alto Li Tiaotiao and Russian soprano Svetlana Medvedeva.

Red Kitchen Cabinet caterers will set up their annual Christmas Tuck Shoppe so guests can taste traditional mulled wine, pies, cookies and cakes.

What better way to celebrate the holiday season than by attending a traditional choral concert, indulging on holiday treats and helping to plant much-needed trees in the desert?
