On Thursday 27 July 2017, AustCham and the Australia Embassy Beijing hosted an exclusive breakfast with Australia’s Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, the Honourable Darren Chester MP at the Grand Hyatt, Beijing.
Welcomed by Executive Director and CEO of AustCham Beijing Nick Coyle, Minister Chester was warmly received from members of the China-Australia business community. The breakfast provided the Australian business community in Beijing with a unique opportunity to engage with Minister Chester and gain valuable insight into the Australian Government’s infrastructure platform, policies and projects, as well as the opportunities for Australia-China collaboration and joint investment in infrastructure, both in Australia and China. Minister Chester spoke about the potential implications and opportunities the Belt and Road Initiative could bring to Australian companies. He also commended China on their strong infrastructure that will benefit the generations to come and how the Australia-China relationship could help shape Australia’s future infrastructure.
The 20 minute presentation was then followed by a Q&A session with the audience, where Minister Chester answered questions regarding Australia’s future infrastructure plans.
