Event Recap | Australian Tax Planning Workshop
14 November @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
The AustCham China office hosted tax experts from SMATS and Dezan Shira who provided insightful advice for Australians living overseas. Ravin Chatlani and Matt Heron of SMATS touched on the tax implications of living abroad and the considerations that need to be made as a non-resident for Australian tax purposes. Ines Liu and Hannah Feng of Dezan Shira & Associates then outlined the key aspects of China’s new Individual Income Tax and what it means for expats.
Participants of the workshop left the event with a better understanding of how to manage their assets tax effectively, including the special considerations to be made when investing in equity and/or property as an expat, how to best utilise superannuation as part of a broader investment strategy, and what measures need to be taken to prepare for the new Individual Income Tax laws currently in the process of being implemented.
