POST-EVENT UPDATE | Australian Budget Review Seminar

On Thursday 11 April, the day the Australian election was called for 18 May 2019, AustCham Beijing invited experts from SMATS Group to offer analysis of the 2019 Federal Australian Budget. Our speakers Ravin Chatlani, director of the SMATS Group managing the Singapore, Malaysian and Indonesian operations of Australasian Taxation Services, and Matt Heron, General Manager & China Business Development Manager of the SMATS Group, provided their perspectives on the recently announced budget by the Morrison Government and the response budget from the Opposition, the Australian Labor Party.
The seminar shed light on:
- What new initiatives were announced in the 2019 Budget;
- All the important changes to the taxation system;
- The impact the Budget may have on the upcoming Election;
- What major changes may occur if the Labor Party wins the election in May;
- The impact of any changes to Australian property investors and expatriates;
- How the Australian property markets may react; and
- Changes to Australian lending conditions.
The event stimulated great discussions and we will be closely watching the developments over the coming months in the lead up to the election.
About the Speakers
Ravin Chatlani is a director of the SMATS Group and manages the Singapore, Malaysian and Indonesian operations of Australasian Taxation Services.
