Post Event Update | KWM Update on China’s Cybersecurity Law: Key Takeaways for Foreign Firms

On the afternoon of Tuesday 25th July, AustCham hosted a presentation by Susan Ning of King and Wood Mallesons on China’s cybersecurity laws, involving a 40 minute presentation hosted by Susan Ning, followed by a 20 minuted Q & A session with the audience. As elaborated on on the day, the new cybersecurity laws took effect on June 1, 2017, and follow-up assessment measures in relation to cross boarder data transmission and security review of network products and services have been released by the Cyberspace Administration of China (“CAC”) recently. The presentation was both informative and relevant, as the new laws affect many foreign firms operating in China.
